Glass Painting Maple Leaf – Fall Craft

Drawing and painting maple leaf for Fall. The unique shape of a maple leaf with intricate designs and variety of colors makes it perfect to draw and paint. Autumn is best known for warm colors like red, orange, yellow, and even purples and shades of green. Maple leaf is also a great souvenir for someone special or a guest.

I had a special guest visiting this year, and I wanted to give them something memorable. So, I got my supplies together and decided to glass paint a maple leaf.

Glass Painting Maple Leaf

I simply used a plain paint brush, Vitrail oil glass paints, relief outliner, an odorless solvent to clean the paint off the brushes, and a beautiful photo frame that I bought from Michaels.

Print the maple leaf. Find the free maple leaf template. Stick it on the backside of the glass tile facing forward with a tape such that it doesn’t move.

Now use the outliner to draw the outline of the maple leaf drawing.

Let it dry for 15 minutes.

Take some paint out in a disposable plate. Use a paint brush to drop paint inside the leaf. I used red, orange, and yellow to bring contrasting colors in the leaf.

Use cleaning solution to clean the brush when changing the color.

Finally after you are done with painting maple leaf from inside. Use pearl white to paint the background that shines and looks subtle at the same time.

There’s are so many possibilities of crafting unique projects for home decor with glass paints given how forgiving and easy they are to use. With some practice you can have a nice and steady hand to outline your pattern and that is the only thing to take care while painting on glass.
